This visualization is a 360-degree view used in the Red Rocks VFT. This visualization contains three views of Mars from three different rover sites. Images collected from each rover are also embedded. An opportunity to explore for iron oxide is also embedded in imagery.
In this visualization, educators can build around three 360-degree sphericals. Features available for your control are listed below. - Focus the learner’s view at a specific time in the lesson, not just in the 360-degree view, but also in the tilt direction - Build trap states checking the direction the learner is looking in the 360-degree view - Implement a scoring system for the interaction you build - Freeze the learner’s view to focus attention on a specific location - Narrow or widen the field of view the learner interacts with instead of a steady 180-degree view - Change nodes to control views and interactions - Implement a slow pan (or swing the view) around the 360-degree view
1. Choose to embed the visualization into an existing Torus lesson or to start a new lesson. 2. Click on the initial state to insert and test the CAPI listed in the CAPI table to begin investigating how they affect the simulation. 3. Begin building your lesson.
Features are called CAPI (Control Application Programming Interface). You can use this CAPI to set the visualization to start with specific functions on or off, force particular views, and also use them to design trap states, which check for correct or incorrect responses. For the full list of CAPI available for this visualization, visit the CAPI table linked in the Information panel on the left hand side of your screen.
There are three ways to teach with this visualization. Select the option that best fits the needs of you and your learners.
